Pearl was founded by Katsumi Yanagisawa in Tokyo, Japan and originally made music stands. In 1950 he switched his focus to making drums. By 1953 the company changed its name to “Pearl Musical Instrument Company,” and began building drum kits, marching drums, timpani, Latin percussion instruments, cymbals, stands and accessories. In 1966 “The President Series” was manufactured and it cracked the USA and European market. Drummers in bands from KISS, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deep Purple as well as artists like Dennis Chambers, Gary Husband and Michael Thomas have all played Pearl kits. So whether its a beginners kit, snare drum or hardware you are searching for Pearl has it covered.
